Research Interests

I am generally interested in fluid mechanics, particularly in flows driven by buoyancy, in solidification and melting of fluids, and in the interactions between phase change and fluid flow. My research to date has included the following topics:

Convection in confined spaces (filling boxes)
Laminar plumes
Solidification of alloys
Convection and solidification in magma chambers and lava lakes
Growth and evolution of sea ice
Premelting and surface melting
Flows in reactive porous media and mushy layers
Viscous gravity currents
Double-diffusive convection
