I am a probationary research student in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics working with my supervisor, John Lister, in the Institute of Theoretical Geophysics. My work is funded by the NERC and I'm currently in my first year of study, having completed Part III mathematics at the University of Cambridge last year.

Publications

I have published nothing.

Research Interests

Generally I am interested in continuum mechanics, especially fluid

mechanics. In particular I am interested in

  • Low Reynolds number flow

  • Non-Newtonian flows

  • Applications of fluid dynamics to geophysical phenomena

    Personal

I am a graduate member of Trinity College where I studied for my BA and CASM (Certificate of Advanced Study in Mathematics).

I am originally from Rotherham, a town in South Yorkshire in the North of England. Rotherham is served well by trains from Sheffield and Doncaster, also Sheffield now has a small airport. Within Rotherham is the new national science museum Magna, which was built from an old steelworks and recently won a national architecture award. South Yorkshire is situated near the Peak District and North Yorkshire Dales National Parks and is well worth a visit.
